Vision

Formed in 1996, the Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Foundation works to preserve what remains of the World War II Japanese American confinement site in Park County, Wyoming, and to tell the stories of the more than 14,000 people unjustly incarcerated at the site. In August of 2011, the Foundation opened the Heart Mountain Interpretive Center, a world-class museum dedicated to teaching this story to future generations.

Goals

1. 1.The Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation has partnered with the University of Wyoming and other stakeholders to recognize that the constituency desires to teach accurate history that reflects contemporary situations civilly and productively. We will host new lectures and events based on and reflecting our constituency's expressed needs.
2. 2.As part of our goal to adapt to the contemporary needs of our constituency, we plan to reenvision our current programming and increase access, targeting the local community and expanding outward.
3. 3.The expansion of our programing is to further our educational social justice advocacy work to address contemporary issues through the lens of WWII Japanese American incarceration.
