Ratings are calculated from one or more beacon scores. Currently, we require either an Accountability & Finance beacon or an Impact & Measurement beacon to be eligible for a Charity Navigator rating. Note: The absence of a rating does not indicate a positive or negative assessment; it only indicates that we have not yet evaluated this organization.
See rating report below to learn why this organization is not currently eligible.

The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
BEST has experienced an unanticipated turnover in the Executive Director position over the past year. The succession plan was to have one of the co-founders assume the ED position, but she experienced a reoccurrence of cancer which took her life far too young (36). After that shock, BEST hired a replacement ED, but they ultimately determined they were not a good fit for the job requirements. After another search, BEST recruited a new ED with stellar credentials and experience with grantwriting and fundraising as well as a solid education background. The wheels are again in motion to resume our 6 month program.
