Action Alliance International
Mission
We ally with other nonprofits to bridge gaps and assist in the smooth and efficient delivery of services to communities. We assist refugees settling in the DFW area in cooperation with World Relief and Catholic Charities. We also assist shelters, churches, and schools which refer DFW recipients who are being relocated to permanent housing. We assist impoverished Guatemalan children to gain an education, relieve chronic malnutrition and acute hunger, and improve their living conditions—empowering them to become self-reliant. We also teach infant resuscitation and supply the needed resuscitation equipment to doctors, nurses, and traditional-birth birthing providers in Guatemala.
Vision
We will continue to assist with providing all household goods needed in a new home or apartment. We work with organizations that assign us specific families. We often set up the home or apartment so that it is immediately usable upon a refugee family's arrival. For our Guatemalan outreach, we partner with Fundamaya—registered in both Guatemala and the US as a nonprofit. We support their school sponsorship program, elderly program, nutrition, and clean water program. We also operate our infant resuscitation program through them. Our goal is to assist the Department of Sololá with the needed resources to train and supply all their birthing caregivers in the American Academy of Pediatrics’ resuscitation training program so that it can become the standard of care for all birthing providers.
Goals
- 1.Increase community awareness of our refugee assistance program and community assistance initiatives to encourage a diverse range of donors and volunteers to participate in supporting refugees and underprivileged community members.
- 2.We will focus on assisting with the Guatemalan school sponsorship program. We completed training all Solola CAP birth providers in the Infant resuscitation program by working with the Sololá Ministry of Health. We will now rely on the Ministry of Health to train their employees, and we will scale our training to midwives we identify as active and frequent birth providers.
- 3.Provide the community with good volunteer opportunities and continue to operate without paid staff.
