Mission

Our mission is to provide housing opportunities for individuals and families who are–or who are at risk of becoming–unhoused. We do this by creating supportive services and partnering with community organizations to expand programs that focus on our client’s health and wellness, leverage resources, and advocate for lasting solutions to the structural causes of homelessness. Our ultimate goal is to make homelessness on Martha’s Vineyard brief, rare, and non-recurring.

Vision

Every Islander has access to safe shelter, essential resources, and the support they need to build a thriving, self-sufficient life.

Goals

1.Homelessness Prevention: Safe and secure temporary housing for every Islander. Understand the need and root causes of homelessness.
2.Outreach: Define the programs and clarify roles of each staff member. Resolve conflict/overlap between existing programs. Increase outreach to unhoused families or those facing homelessness. Collaborate with other organizations.
3.Shelter & Housing: Secure a space for temporary winter shelter until Harbor Homes Center can be completed. Secure property for the HH Center. Define purpose of Congregate Homes: permanent vs. transitional or temporary housing.
