Mission

Longmont Humane Society is an open admission facility with a mission of Caring, serving, and educating to improve the lives of companion animals. LHS provides temporary shelter to thousands of animals every year: dogs, cats, small mammals, and birds who are lost, abandoned, or surrendered. Loving attention, nutritious food, meticulous health care and daily exercise are standard parts of the high-quality care provided to each animal. We understand that each animal comes with a unique story, personality, and sometimes, challenges. We have a team of experts who specialize in understanding animal behavior, creating tailored training plans, and nurturing the emotional and psychological needs of homeless pets. Because of this individualized approach we maintain a 98% Live Release Rate.

Vision

We believe it’s our purpose and responsibility to safeguard an animal’s physical and mental health, including offering the Five Freedoms: 1) Freedom from Hunger and Thirst by providing basic food and water needs. 2) Freedom from Discomfort by providing an appropriate environment, including shelter and a comfortable resting area. 3) Freedom from Pain, Injury, or Disease by quick diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. 4) Freedom to Express Normal Behavior by providing enough space, proper facilities, and playgroups. 5) Freedom from Fear and Distress by ensuring conditions and treatment which avoid mental suffering.

Goals

2.Educating the community on proper pet care through marketing and public presentations.
3.Becoming an end-to-end resource for clients by expanding touchpoints and creating an ongoing relationship with clients to ensure the welfare of animals in our community.
