SolarBuddy is an impact organization uniting a global community to illuminate the futures of all children.
One of the biggest obstacles we face is extreme energy poverty. It is a complex challenge, impacting the health and well-being, educational outcomes, and economic stability of the communities experiencing it, as well as our environment.
But we are motivated by big challenges and will never stop creating new ways to fight this one. We focus on education, sustainable innovation, connected communities and the impact we can make by working towards achieving our two goals. 1) To gift millions of solar devices to children living in extreme energy poverty, while simultaneously, 2) educating and inspiring millions of people to be agents of change to end extreme energy poverty by 2030.
We see a brighter future for all children, and by learning, creating and coming together, we will light the way there.

The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year
One of SolarBuddy's unique points of difference is our determination and drive to connect people in the developed world directly with people in the developing world. We do this with hand-on initiatives, enabling employees and school children to assemble a solar light that will be gifted to a child living in energy poverty, along with a letter of encouragement.
In the past year with offices and schools closed, our engagement opportunities needed to be adapted to virtual opportunities. This was successfully done with existing programs, and new purpose built virtual programs were also created. The opportunity to connect virtually with people anywhere in the world, has enabled SolarBuddy to scale and continue to achieve both goals of gifting solar lights and, educating and inspiring agents of change.
