Vision

SoCal Ride/Walk for Parkinson's strives to reach people that have Parkinson's or who have recently been diagnosed with Parkinson's to have a support group that they can rely upon. Too often, after a diagnosis, a person becomes recluse, which is the worst thing they can do. We offer support for exercise groups, support groups, caregiver support groups to create a community of caring people to help people with Parkinson's go through their journey.

Goals

1. 1.It is a proven fact that people with Parkinson's need social interaction and exercise to stem the progression of this disease. We do this by raising funds for Parkinson's research through The Michael J Fox Foundation but also supporting local groups that promote these ideals.
2. 2.We started as a small local fundraiser in Orange County, California. We now have participants from most of the western states, plus Texas, Colorado, Ohio, Florida, and New York. All of this helps us raise awareness of Parkinson's as a crippling disease but also fundraising for Parkinson's research.
3. 3.We need to be adaptable to new ways of exercising. We started out as just a bike ride, but some people with Parkinson's don't feel comfortable on a bike, so we added a walk. This next year we will add ballroom dancing to our one day event so that more people will be able to join in a day of exercise and fellowship to combat Parkinson's
