    20 out of 20 points
The nonprofit organization presents evidence of strategic thinking and goal setting through sharing their most important strategic goals.
Goal One: Bernardsville has a great deal to offer to our community and visitors. We will promote a level of tourism by honoring our history, highlighting nature and trails, and promoting our exemplary dining.
Goal Two: Bernardsville's small businesses have lacked support for years. Programs to encourage local shopping as well as learning, networking, and communication among our business community are underway.
Goal Three: Hire consultants and full time staff to create more engaging and higher level projects and programs. These will improve key walking districts, promote the town overall, & build a strong image of town.

    Adaptability Practices
    30 out of 30 points
The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year
Downtown Bernardsville shifted focus at the end of 2020 to follow the Main Street approach. Regardless of formal designation with the state level program, it was crucial to follow a systematic approach to improving our community's vibrancy. A successful downtown lends to happy residents, contented with local events, things to do, higher home values, and a welcoming community. Following the newer approach, rather than sticking with an events/promotion only model, allowed more volunteers to contribute their time and expertise, engaged in a creative placemaking project that uplifted the spirit of our community, and paved the way for more to come including honoring our history, providing more events throughout the year, and beautifying our commercial district, all the while helping our business district thrive and local economy grow.
