This organization was impacted by COVID-19 in a way that effected their financial health in 2020. This normally would have reduced their star rating. Due to the unprecedented nature of the pandemic, we give charities such as this one the opportunity to share the story of COVID's impact on them, and doing this pauses our revision of their rating. Charities may submit their own pandemic responses through their nonprofit portal.
Water Engineers for the Americas reported being impacted by COVID-19 in the following ways:
Program Delivery
Fundraising Capacity
Administrative Capacity
Balance Sheet
How COVID-19 impacted the organization's operations financially:
Much of our support is through private donors and private foundations. It is possible that donors put their resources into other more 'crisis' related projects like the pandemic than our mission.
How COVID-19 impacted the organization's delivery of programs:
With the COVID quarantine in many of the countries where we work, we were unable to complete some project goals and have thus delayed projects accordingly.
How this organization adapted to changing conditions caused by COVID-19:
We have put an enormous effort toward Water, Sanitation, & Hygiene (WASH) in Health Care Facilities (HCFs) in Africa despite the pandemic. We were able to complete multiple WASH in HCF projects during the pandemic.
Innovations the organization intends to continue permanently after the pandemic:
WASH in HCFs is an initiative that supersedes a pandemic. If health clinics do not have access to water and sanitation they cannot support their catchment populations with sustainable health care. WASH in general is key to decreasing disease throughout the world whether in a pandemic or not.
