Song for Charlie

Mission

Song for Charlie (SFC) seeks to educate kids, parents and caregivers and communities about the risks of self- medication and substance use in the deadly era of fentanyl. As the leading national family-led nonprofit focused on the nexus of mental health and the emerging drug landscape, we aim to shift the “quick fix” mindset of self- medication and experimentation to more organic, sustainable strategies for youth to manage stress and anxiety. SFC engages with youth ages 13- 24 through digestible content and empowering messaging, as well as with parents and caregivers along with communities to create surround sound on this critical topic to keep our youth safe.

Vision

We envision a future in which the casual use of prescription pills is considered socially unacceptable, and in which sharing random pills is uncool. We endeavor to change the ‘quick fix’ mindset of self-medication in favor of more organic and sustainable strategies for managing stress and anxiety. To accomplish these goals, we must break through the noise and communicate with young people on their terms – go where they are; speak their language; and get them talking.
