Mission: Safari Club International Foundation (SCI Foundation) is "First for Wildlife." The mission is to fund and direct worldwide programs dedicated to wildlife conservation and outdoor education. SCI Foundation works closely with Safari Club International, its chapters, and members to advance local, regional and global wildlife conservation, outdoor education, and humanitarian projects each year.

The group also supports scientific studies in the field of predator-prey relationships and wildlife habitat restoration and management. Donors have expressed extreme concern about the use of their personal information by charities and the desire to have this information kept confidential. The exchanging and sale of lists for telemarketing and the mass distribution of "junk mail," among other things, can be minimized if the charity assures the privacy of its donors. Privacy policies are assigned to one of the following categories:

  • Yes: This charity has a written donor privacy policy published on its website, which states unambiguously that (1) it will not share or sell a donor's personal information with anyone else, nor send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations or (2) it will only share or sell personal information once the donor has given the charity specific permission to do so.

  • Opt-out: The charity has a written privacy policy published on its website which enables donors to tell the charity to remove their names and contact information from lists the charity shares or sells. How a donor can have themselves removed from a list differs from one charity to the next, but any and all opt-out policies require donors to take specific action to protect their privacy.

Due to social distancing, we had to close two of our programs. These have since been reopened, but on a limited basis. We also experienced delays in funding other projects and aim to do so this fiscal year.

We used the opportunity to make improvements to our facilities and program planning. We also offered virtual programs. With this, we utilized Zoom more than we had, previously, for meetings.

SCI Foundation directs worldwide programs dedicated to wildlife conservation. Each program region – North America, Africa, and Asia – has specific areas of focus, from predator-prey interaction to wildlife genetics and anti-poaching to applied management. We work closely with SCI Chapters and members to advance local, regional, and global wildlife conservation projects. We also partner with sustainable use organizations and with researchers at top universities in the United States and elsewhere to ensure that the best science is used to make wildlife conservation decisions. At the International Wildlife Museum, we create an awareness on the part of our visitors to the role of hunting in wildlife management. Throughout the museum, conservation and the role of hunting is a cornerstone of exhibits and special events, often providing a up close examination of representative species found around the world. Over 49,000 attendees visit and learn about international conservation of wildlife.

Story of Adaptability

The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.


During the last year, SCI Foundation took the opportunity to help those who were most impacted in the hunting and conservation industry by the health and economic effects of the pandemic. Funds for this were raised through a virtual auction and call to action. In addition to this, SCI Foundation offered educational programs and experiences through various online portals to continue to engage and educate the public regarding wildlife, conservation, and hunting's role in wildlife management.
