Arizona Community Action Association Inc.

Mission

ACAA addresses poverty across Arizona. Through a collaboration of nearly 300 organizations that provide emergency assistance (utility, food, housing, eviction, etc), ACAA develops and implements strategies to address and ultimately eliminate poverty.

Vision

Preventing poverty before it starts thru strategic collaboration, technical support, advocacy and awareness.

Goals

1.Collaboratively provide emergency Utility assistance and Replace approximately 150 HVAC systems by Dec26 and reduce the number of Indoor Heat related deaths in Arizona. Prioritizing high risk households in poverty (11.7% of all residents) from extreme heat; seniors, families with children, individuals with chronic or disabling health conditions, and residents of manufactured housing.
2.The Heat Relief Initiative in 2024, which is now the largest non-federal AC repair and replacement program in Arizona, serving all 15 counties statewide and impacting 370 household members to date. The program has invested over $1.7 million in Arizona communities, including more than $200,000 for new air conditioning installations in households that previously lacked any central cooling.
3.Supporting families with Eviction prevention. In 2025 we created an Eviction diversion program recommending crucial steps toward building a stronger, more coordinated eviction-diversion system in Arizona. The project is now moving into its second phase, with a proven stakeholder group, inclusive of the courts, landlords, and assistance providers, established to explore and advance implementation.
