New Life Center
Mission
At New Life Center, we’re reimagining what our communities, and our lives, could look like without the fear and consequences of violence. We envision a society where every human feels safe, valued, and respected, allowing them to live the fullest life possible. That’s why it’s our mission to ensure safe, stable communities by preventing and responding to domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. When we opened in 1991 in an abandoned dormitory hidden away on the grounds of a popular resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona, we were the first domestic violence shelter in the West Valley of the greater Phoenix metropolitan region. The donated, makeshift space—lovingly refurbished by volunteers—had just eight beds. But for families fleeing domestic violence, it was a place of healing and safety. Three decades later, our organization has grown into a statewide leader in emergency shelter and outreach support for survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. We now operate one of the largest stand-alone domestic violence shelters in Arizona, with 110 beds. We also run a standalone healing center for survivors of sexual violence and human trafficking and provide dating violence prevention programs to teenagers.
Vision
New Life Center envisions a world free from domestic and sexual violence, where survivors and their families find safety, healing, and empowerment. Through compassionate support, innovative programs, and community collaboration, we strive to break the cycle of abuse and create a future where every individual has the opportunity to thrive with dignity and hope.
Goals
- 1.This goal reflects our commitment to advancing advocacy efforts that support survivors of violence. For us, advocacy is the day-to-day, direct support provided by trained staff - helping survivors navigate resources, access services, and build safety and stability. Through our mission, we provide refuge, compassionate care, and critical support.
- 2.This goal reflects our commitment to strengthening the programs most essential to our mission. By prioritizing core services that provide refuge, advocacy, and critical support to survivors of violence, we ensure our resources are used effectively while thoughtfully scaling back efforts that fall outside our primary focus.
- 3.This goal reflects our commitment to investing in the capacity of our organization. In partnership with our board, we have identified the need to simplify and streamline operational tasks across departments, allowing us to work more efficiently, strengthen internal systems, and better support the delivery of our core services.
