Evergreen’s mission is to lead an all-of-government mobilization to defeat the climate crisis and build a just and thriving clean energy economy by raising standards, catalyzing investment, and centering justice at the heart of economic transformation. We collaborate with climate and community leaders and advocate for policymakers to adopt the urgent climate and economic policies that science demands. With historic climate and clean energy investments now passed into law, it’s a thrilling time to work for an organization at the cutting edge of climate policy. Evergreen has quickly become one of the most influential climate organizations in the country. We played a major role in passing historic climate investments and the work is far from over. We are dedicated to tackling the most pressing crisis of our time through our standards, investments, and justice agenda.

In 2022, all of our managers and supervisors went through a training with the Management Center on effective management in a remote setting. Additionally, we have launched a number of all-team training sessions with LifeLabs to train our managers and staff in setting high-impact goals, giving and receiving feedback, and remote meetings mastery. Our success with LifeLabs led us to partner with them again this year in an intensive management training program during the summer and fall. This includes workshops on coaching skills, managing distributed employees, productivity & prioritization and effective 1-1s. To bolster these trainings, we’ve contracted Jen Fontan of JCF Coaching, a leadership management and somatic coach and consultant to work with our executive director as well as Ilana Solomon of Solomon Strategies LLC, to work with our campaigns team on effective campaign and advocacy strategies.

Evergreen Action works in close partnership and collaboration with organizations and grass-tops leaders across the climate movement to galvanize broad support for the boldest climate policies possible. We often help organize other entities in support of shared goals, like the goal of achieving 100% clean power. For instance, in support of that critically important climate goal, we created the 100% Clean Power Network, which includes more than 50 organizations all working together to advance policies in service of achieving our clean power future. Because of Evergreen’s proven policy and political prowess, other organizations often look to us for their next moves.

With the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, Governors and state governments have a massive opportunity to effectively and equitably propel their states into a clean energy future by pushing their states to go even further. Our extensive work to secure the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act and solid network of relationships with the Biden administration gave Evergreen a unique ability to translate the significant investment into new state policy opportunities. To that end, Evergreen scaled its state-based work in order to achieve a high-level of impact at this critical juncture for state climate action by launching the State Climate Leadership initiative. Evergreen can trace its origins back to bold climate leadership in Washington State and elsewhere. For background, many of Evergreen’s staff and consultants have worked in governors’ offices, as well as at the Democratic Governors Association. Evergreen is currently serving as a trusted and credible resource to both state administrations and in-state advocates regarding the implementation of federal climate investments. We are well positioned to replicate the success we have had at the federal level at the state level in part by leveraging these close relationships with Governors and their staff, as well as our deep connections with press and movement partners.
