    First Step House

    Mission

Since 1958, First Step House (FSH) has helped people get back on their feet after addiction and homelessness. Our mission is to help people build lives of meaning, purpose, and recovery. Serving 1,700 people a year, our core programs include substance use disorder treatment, deeply affordable housing, and evidence-based supportive services. Participants have experienced homelessness, incarceration, and chronic illness; they face steep barriers to breaking cycles of instability. At FSH, we strive to treat not just the disease of addiction but, rather, the whole person: their health, housing, finances, work, and relationships. We build systems of treatment and support that empower people to exit homelessness and achieve long-term stability.
