Vision

Although families help their Elders, conditions exist that make our assistance essential. As Elders age, their ability to work diminishes while basic requirements for firewood, food, mobility equipment and simple medical supplies increase. Presently over 860 Navajo Elders living on the Navajo reservation are enrolled as adopted Elders in our Program. Hundreds of additional people who live in poverty in remote locations on the Reservation receive some form of Program food and/or firewood assistance from Adopt-A-Native-Elder

Goals

1. 1.The twice yearly Food Runs provide food staples and fresh produce to every Elder in the Adopt-A-Native-Elder Program. The goal for 2026 and beyond is to increase the amount of food and giveaway supplies by 10%.
2. 2.Inflation has made basic food, firewood and propane, and yarn more extensive than ever. Our Elders, the living keepers of Diné culture, language, and heritage rely on our community for their well-being. The Adopt-A-Native-Elder is committed to serving the next generation of Elders and the generations that follow by meeting their unique needs.
3. 3.Continue to honor Navajo weavers and their work by providing them with a marketplace that honors their culture and traditions and allows them to set their own prices and receive 100% of the proceeds from their sales.
