South Valley Sanctuary Inc.
Mission
SVS is a survivor-centered nonprofit with a mission of being an organization where individuals impacted by domestic abuse and sexual violence can realize their own strength, courage, and resilience while on their path to an empowered future. We will provide: (1) Survivors with free and confidential services including emergency shelter, safe housing, trauma-informed counseling, advocacy, and tools for life, (2) Education aimed at ending the cycle of generational violence, and (3) Opportunities for communities to be a part of the solution for a better tomorrow.
Vision
To foster an environment where everyone is safe, respected, and acknowledged in the home, at work, and in the community.
Goals
- 1.Due to the high demand of emergency shelter requests, and our shelter's current capacity, our organization had to turn away 338 shelter requests during our last fiscal year. Our goal is to lower this number by relocating the administration staff, currently working at the shelter, to an offsite location and create more residential rooms in its place.
- 2.To provide a holistic approach to our survivors’ healing journey, SVS' goal is to open a transitional housing facility for long-term, sustainable living. This will assist survivors to gradually transition into more independent living conditions. In addition, this will further our wrap-around approach of healing by adding more capacity for child care, clinical services, and other services.
- 3.To increase the capacity of our organization, we will invest in our employees through increased/competitive wages and benefits, and promoting work-life balance. Another way is by creating a new Training Coordinator position to develop staff trainings and ensure completion of required trainings. By increasing employee retention we will reduce disruptions and enhance service continuity.
