About one in four children need some kind of corrective eyewear. This need skyrockets for economically challenged communities, where 30 - 50 percent of children go without necessary professional eye care services. The implications of that are tremendous, if a child can't see, he/she can't read, if he/she can't read, he/she can't learn, and if he/she can't learn. These children are going to get in trouble. Since 2001 EyeCare4Kids had served nearly 400,000 children with professional eye exams, vision screenings and, if needed, "new, really cool eyeglasses." The nonprofit now has a presence in five states including a family vision clinic, laboratory, 4 school-based clinics, and three mobile clinics. Not only do the kids need the services, but we need to take the services to the kids. It is our mission to serve Any Child…Anywhere. (Less)

There has been an increase in outreach efforts and community partnerships through newly developed programs. EyeCare4Kids engages in strategic partnerships with other nonprofit and public organizations such as homeless shelters, refugee centers, Title I schools, Native American reservations, and Boys & Girls Clubs to increase access to eye care by providing onsite mobile vision clinics. EyeCare4Kids has also partnered with Uintah Basin Healthcare to provide free vision clinics in rural communities in Utah. EyeCare4Kids participates in advisory committees and coalitions with multiple community organizations to promote health equity by increasing awareness and accessibility to reduce health disparities in underserved communities. Over the past 18 months, EyeCare4Kids has had many positive changes in leadership, outreach, and accessibility. Since the addition of a new Utah executive director to the team, there has been an increase in outreach efforts and community partnerships through newly developed programs. Lenses 4 Literacy is a new program that provides free vision screenings to children and adults at various community events. Through July of this year, there have been over 1,800 free vision screenings provided by EyeCare4Kids. Earlier this year, EyeCare4Kids was one of the first organizations in Utah to be awarded the bronze designation by UServeUtah upon the completion of its newly developed volunteer program. EyeCare4Kids was recently awarded a grant from UServeUtah to expand their volunteer program. This volunteer program has produced over 90 hours of volunteer work through July of this year.
