    Mission Statement
    10 out of 10 points
The nonprofit organization presents evidence of strategic thinking through articulating the organization's mission.
Free Hearts Free Minds offers trauma-informed psychosocial support to people from Muslim backgrounds suffering from religious trauma. The experience of renouncing any religion of your family, community, and society is a devastating and traumatic ordeal for millions of people around the globe. However, those who renounce Islam face the most dire risks. As of 2023, leaving Islam is punishable by death in 12 Muslim-majority countries. In addition to state-sanctioned persecution, apostates face the risk of social isolation, violence, imprisonment, torture, disownment and honour killing. While there are a range of support services available to people who suffer from religious trauma stemming from fundamentalist Christianity, those with a background in Islam have nowhere else to turn. Free Hearts Free Minds is the only non-profit on the planet that is focused on their unique and specific needs.

    Adaptability Practices
    30 out of 30 points
The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year
In the past year, FHFM has adapted in two significant ways: First, we were able to expand our services to not only include one-on-one sessions, but to include group sessions and community support as well! Secondly, we have been able to expand our reach from only serving people in Muslim majority countries to being able to support anyone from anywhere around the globe. These changes have allowed us to significantly improve our program both internally and externally.
