The Kollab Youth Workforce Development Program is an award winning 501(c)3 public charity organization and CA DAS Registered Pre-Apprenticeship Program created for under resourced middle and high school students. The Kollab Youth program helps them explore career opportunities in business, STEM and other emerging 21st century careers that are high growth and high wage jobs. Kollab Youth receive mentorship from industry experts and earn resume-worthy work experience through paid apprenticeships and internships connecting them with the future workforce and preparing them to compete in tomorrow’s workplace.
Vision
Kollab Youth ensures our Los Angeles County youth have the skills and knowledge they need to contribute to the global economy. Cultivating resourcefulness as a skill prepares young people for jobs that may not yet exist. In fact, the more resourceful they are, the more likely they are to become young entrepreneurs that create new companies and jobs for others. We ensure youth have all the resources they need to excel, and we also provide workshops for the families for economic mobility. Kollab Youth empowers low-income youth by offering a life-changing program that hones essential soft skills, financial literacy, leadership abilities, and social-emotional wellness strategies.
Goals
- 1.Many young individuals in Los Angeles find themselves in challenging circumstances, lacking essential resources. Gainful employment stands out as a highly effective avenue for personal advancement and financial independence. Unfortunately, underserved teenagers in Los Angeles often miss out on adequate preparation for their future careers, we work with employers and match the needs to the youth.
- 2.Kollab Youth has seen a large interest and need for the program. Currently, Kollab Youth averages 90 students per cohort. The most recent in-person event, Teen Summit, saw over 200 youths. The Kollab program paves the way for teens by providing access to work-based learning, mentors, and online curriculum, and financial assistance opportunities for youth from our under invested communities.
- 3.We are data driven to gauge success with our youth. Tracking youth that successfully completed the program. We evaluate their online assignments, surveys, attendance to virtual classes, placement in paid internships, apprenticeships, certification and college. We invest in software that we are continually improving to track and monitor youth after they complete the program.
