Vision

We believe the act of migration is as old as time, and a basic part of being human. The decision to leave the place where you were born is often very difficult — one that takes tremendous courage and love. We welcome people who have come to Ohio from other places and know that now, Ohio is home. We are working to create a state and society where all people feel safe, have their families and contributions respected, and are able to bring their fullest selves to their communities.

Goals

1. 1.We are standing up the Ohio Is Home resource website, ohioishome.org, in multiple languages. This provides information for immigrants, allies, and service providers about legal rights, mental health, community-serving organizations, and other support to navigate a changing immigration policy landscape. It includes a hotline for abuse reporting.
2. 2.Hiring staff who are immigrants or children of immigrants, and developing their leadership in various areas. We have hired two part-time staff and two consultants who have immigrant backgrounds and deep expertise in organizing, social media, and data collection. They are becoming trusted connectors between immigrants and service providers, as well as ambassadors to the broader community.
3. 3.We led advocacy to end immigration jail in Ohio during the first Trump administration, and successfully ended two Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) contracts by working with incarcerated immigrants and lawyers. We are doing this work again, with much more organization, experience, allyship, and capacity.
