Vision

Rides for Refugees helps refugees obtain reliable used vehicles. We serve refugees without prejudice on the basis of ethnicity, religion, race, gender or gender expression, sexual orientation, national origin, or any other characteristic. We bring relevant professional experience and firsthand refugee experience to bear in serving our mission. We gather input and feedback from refugees, donors, and other interested parties so we can be responsive to refugees’ needs and continually improve our operations. We serve refugees wherever we see need and opportunity.

Goals

1. 1.Provide Sustainable Transportation: Encourage carpools so car recipients will use their cars to ease the burden of other refugees, ease environmental and economic burdens, and help employers retain workers. Pilot a 0% interest loan program so refugees can build credit and Rides for Refugees can recycle funding.
2. 2.Community Engagement: • Establish partnerships with refugee resettlement organizations, sponsors, employers, and community groups. • Involve refugees, donors, and other stakeholders in programming. • Assist members of the refugee community who work to serve other refugees.
3. 3.Financial Sustainability: • Conduct fundraising campaigns online and in the community. • Seek public and private grants. • Forge relationships with companies that own vehicle fleets and could donate older vehicles on a regular basis (to be sold at auction to fund our mission, or to be repurposed as practical). • Expand the board to include people with access to funds/sponsorships.
