    World Affairs Council of Seattle

    Mission

Since 1951, the World Affairs Council has been a nonpartisan and nonprofit organization with a singular and enduring purpose: to create opportunities for people in Washington State to engage thoughtfully with global issues, connect across cultures, and build meaningful relationships that strengthen international understanding and local communities alike. For more than seven decades, the Council has created meaningful opportunities for engaged citizens, business leaders, elected officials, academics, community members and students to engage with the ideas, cultures, and leaders shaping our world. Through speaker programs that include frank, off-the-record conversations, international professional exchanges, and educational initiatives aligned with state and national standards, we bring the world to our region — and connect our region to the world. Our work is grounded in the belief that informed, globally engaged citizens build stronger communities and a more peaceful world. We welcome a broad spectrum of perspectives and remain committed to civil, substantive dialogue on international affairs.
