Vision

WWT envisions a future in which a rehydrated landscape is resilient to climate change impacts and drought. In this future, rivers and streams that are important to fish spawning and migration will have adequate flows even during the hottest driest months.

Goals

1. 1.Catalyze increased use of recycled treated wastewater for irrigation, industrial, and municipal uses to reduce surface and groundwater diversions. Continue research into the long-term use and benefits of recycled water with local partners. Implement pilot projects on Sammamish Valley farms to demonstrate recycled water use and build local demand.
2. 2.Continue development of the Dungeness drought response program and establish new drought response efforts where and when needed. Work with state and county governments on drought planning and multiyear mitigation programs to ensure adequate streamflows for fish during droughts.
3. 3.Expand river and stream restoration in the Walla Walla. Continue serving on the Basin Advisory Committee for the Walla Walla Basin Watershed Strategy and develop the new Walla Walla Basin Decision Support Tool to identify projects that best restore flows for fish and meet regional water objectives. Establish a collaborative drought response program in the Walla Walla for low streamflow years.
