    Adaptability Statement
    30 out of 30 points
The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
Our programs are largely those of public access, which leadership prioritized over the last two years. When public sites around the state were shutting down, we implemented a temporary one-way route on our most popular trails so that they would remain open. Leadership directed (and often staffed) information points explaining the route on busy weekends. Since field trips were cancelled, our Education Committee shifted from docent-led to self-guided experiences for families. Home schoolers were early adopters of this program. With in-person events cancelled, leadership took our events online, producing a 20th anniversary celebration and our first ever online auction. Going forward, we will continue to use the auction software and have decided to "pandemic proof" events by moving as many as possible to outdoor locations.
