Vision

Friends of Trees envisions a world where all communities have access to trees, green spaces, and the benefits they provide. Planting trees is a key part of a comprehensive climate strategy. We believe that planting trees with community members creates an extra layer of climate action by engaging more people in these efforts. And because the communities most at risk from the devastation of climate change have the lowest access to trees and green spaces, we are committed to authentically engaging underserved communities. Our vision also includes environmental education through actively and meaningfully engaging K-12 students, high school interns from opportunity schools, and adult workforce training. Friends of Trees has placed great emphasis on, and commits significant organizational resources to, operating and delivering through an EDI lens, including a specific focus on decolonization through intentional collaborations via workforce development programming.

Goals

1. 1.Continue to enhance and grow efforts to implement community tree planting and related environmental education inclusively and equitably.
2. 2.Increase the depth and reach of our programming toward serving more communities - especially underserved, low-canopy communities, planting more trees, and growing related tree care and education work.
3. 3.Continue to strengthen and diversify revenue streams to ensure a healthy organization.
