Guide Dogs for the Blind Inc.

    Mission

Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB) harnesses the power of partnerships--connecting people, dogs, and communities--to transform the lives of individuals with visual impairments. As an industry-leading guide dog school, we are a passionate community, empowering individuals who are blind or visually impaired to move through the world with greater safety and confidence. Because when everyone is empowered to participate, our communities are stronger. GDB is the largest guide dog school serving the United States and Canada. Our licensed Guide Dog Mobility Instructors provide highly personalized training to qualified individuals. Each guide dog team spends up to 14 days learning to work together in a variety of real-life situations such as going to stores, restaurants, malls, and riding on all forms of public transportation. All services are free, including, but not limited to, personalized guide dog training, extensive post-graduation support, and financial assistance for veterinary care, as needed. GDB's Orientation and Mobility Immersion Program helps people acquire the skills necessary to work with a guide dog or travel more independently by cane. And, our K9 Buddy Program matches specially selected dogs to become companions to people of all ages. GDB receives no government funding, relying solely on donations to support and advance our mission.
