Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland

Mission

The purpose of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland is to develop our community's youth into positive contributors to society. To accomplish our purpose, we provide programs and services that are tailored to the needs of today's youth and supplementary to the endeavors of families, our schools, and other community-based organizations. Like the national organization, we are dedicated to providing services to children from all backgrounds, with special consideration for those from disadvantaged circumstances. Locally, we provide safe places to learn and grow, ongoing relationships with caring adult professionals, life-enhancing programs, character development experiences, hope, and opportunity for over 2,000 girls and boys ages 6 to 18 each year.

Vision

To inspire and empower Oakland's youth, especially those who need us most, by providing safe spaces, caring mentors, and life-enriching programs that foster academic success, healthy lifestyles, and character development.

Goals

1.We build new programs on the population we serve, which why we are launching the free dental clinic in the beginning on 2026. Additionally, we are working on establishing Oakland's first indoor soccer field to ensure we have culturally relevant programs for all our youth.
2.We are gathering information on the needs of our children and families through surveys and school partnerships, then we are working locally with councilmembers and the mayors office to ensure our advocacy efforts in D.C. in February and in Sacramento in April are aligned with the larger issues and opportunities for children and youth.
3.We are actively building a capital campaign to ensure we are serving all youth who need BGCO the most in Oakland, especially Northern Oakland.
