Vision

MALT’s vision for Marin County is a thriving and inclusive agricultural community in a healthy and diverse natural environment.

Goals

1. 1.Though times have changed, much of MALT’s work today is consistent with our origins — a focus on protecting agricultural lands and ensuring they remain in food and fiber production for their wide-ranging benefits to all. We will remain focused on preserving our agricultural lands, primarily through our conservation easement program in addition to developing and using new land conservation tools
2. 2.Conserving Marin’s farms and ranches not only means protecting the land through conservation easements, but also ensuring its agricultural viability and helping to steward the health of the land. MALT’s stewardship team supports ranchers and farmers through small grants and technical assistance. We believe it’s important these grant opportunities continue to meet the needs of our community.
3. 3.We recognize that our success depends upon our staff, board, and a healthy, resilient organization. We will continue to make strategic investments in the people, technology, and processes that support our organization, including our diversity, equity, and inclusion practices. We will focus on staff retention and growth, advancing board governance and accountability, and increased transparency.
