How COVID-19 impacted the organization's operations financially:
Donations to our organization declined significantly. Parent frustration with the rollout of remote learning directly impacted their level of donations. We were also not able to hold our annual gala fundraiser which generates significant revenue. We applied for and received a PPP loan which helped protect our ability to continue office operations and provision of programming to our schools.
How COVID-19 impacted the organization's delivery of programs:
Due to school shutdowns and a shift to remote learning, we had to work with the two school districts LPIE serves to redirect funds to support the remote learning model, and to ensure students were still getting the educational enrichment LPIE delivers.
How this organization adapted to changing conditions caused by COVID-19:
Office operations were altered so staff could work fully remotely. All meetings, including board meetings, shifted to video-conference. Annual initiatives that are usually held in person were reimagined to be executed and delivered virtually (art fairs, science fairs, readathon, Project LPIE...).
Innovations the organization intends to continue permanently after the pandemic:
While most programs are back to a normal in-person format at our schools, we retain the ability and framework to pivot back to virtual should a future need arise.
