American Himalayan Foundation

Mission

The American Himalayan Foundation brings shelter, safety, education, healthcare, and opportunity to people across the Himalaya who have no one else. In these remote regions, people often struggle without access to schools or clinics, thousands of young girls are in danger of being sold into modern-day slavery, disasters push families over the brink, and traditional ways of life are disappearing. We focus on essential things that can, and do, transform lives - opening doors to education and healthcare, preventing girls from being trafficked, helping families weather crises and become financially independent, building stronger communities, and keeping ancient cultures alive. Our projects are led by local partners and respond to the priorities of their communities, in a way that respects both tradition and innovation.

A world where marginalize people across the Himalaya have shelter, safety, education, healthcare, and opportunity so they can put some distance between themselves and desperation and live with dignity and hope.

Goals

1.Continue our work empowering Himalayan communities with shelter, safety, education, healthcare, and opportunity.
2.Expand our Crisis Response support to vulnerable Himalayan communities. The pandemic highlighted how much of a difference a little help makes in keeping families on the edge going.
3.Expand our Climate Adaptation work. We will be embarking on a broad-based constellation of projects aimed at helping the people of Mustang adapt to the new realities of climate change.
