Mission

Veterans Guest House's mission is to promote the health of veteran families by providing a warm, inviting, temporary home and access to the care they need. The Reno-based nonprofit was founded in 1994 when it was discovered veterans and their loved ones who traveled to Reno for medical care would sleep in their cars or forgo treatment because they could not afford the cost of a motel room. For over 30 years, Veterans Guest House has helped the veteran community access medical care by removing common barriers such as lodging, meals, and transportation, post-operative care, and help with basic needs. Centrally located near Midtown and three area hospitals, Veterans Guest House provides: • Clean, safe, and comfortable accommodations • Continental breakfast and homecooked dinners • Nutritious snacks and a fully-stocked kitchen • Transportation assistance • Post-operative and personal care • Help with basic needs All services are 100% free and are available regardless of required length of stay, characterization of discharge, or healthcare provider. Proof of veteran status and medical appointment is required.
