Vision

We envision a future where people throughout the North Pacific work together as stewards to sustain wild salmon and the immense benefits they provide people, rivers, and their watersheds.

Goals

1. 1.Build organizational capacity by capitalizing a $100 million durability fund, to adequately invest in the conservation and durability of the stronghold network over the next decade. We will also capitalize a $100 million endowment fund that will help support the annual operating costs of key partners and WSC’s core operations to defend strongholds across our program areas in perpetuity.
2. 2.Recruit a new generation of salmon champions who will fight for their home waters, contribute significant, long-term funding, and form a politically engaged community in each salmon watershed. To achieve this, we are underwriting the first-ever salmon IMAX film, and complementary streaming documentary, that will be used for a national outreach campaign to catalyze a new generation of support.
3. 3.Secure the long-term conservation of a network of 20 major watersheds across the Pacific Rim that constitute the most important remaining global centers of wild salmon diversity and abundance through habitat protection agreements, conservation of biodiversity and abundance, and strengthening local conservation organizations so they will function as an “immune response” to drive off future threats.
