The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year
What a year 2020 was, but we survived! When COVID hit in March, it stopped us in our tracks. But, only briefly; in fact, only for one week. We realized quickly that we would need to adapt and that we truly are a huge asset in our community. People need us on a daily basis and we needed to adapt. We moved "Amber's Closet" outside to our garage to keep people out of our small office/house. We masked up. We followed social distance guidelines. We provided food in addition to essential baby items. We helped people in the city of Elk Grove on a monthly basis to ensure babies in our local area did not go hungry. We had to lay off our team of 5 and the Executive Director and Director of Operations forged ahead and became more efficient. We made things better, streamlined procedures and updated processes. We served MORE people than ever before. We survived!
