Uncommon Good

Mission

To break the intergenerational cycle of poverty through innovative programs in education, health, and urban farming. We accomplish our goals by helping underprivileged children succeed in school, by supporting doctors who are bringing wellness into underserved communities, and through an urban farming hunger relief program.

Goals

1.We will maintain our greatest strengths in the Connect to College program: one-to-one interactions, long-term engagement, whole-family services, and expert academic guidance. We will embark on an engagement effort that is rooted in matching more students to mentors, developing updated mentor/mentee programming, raising academic rigor and expectations, and increasing pride among participants.
2.We will revitalize the educational component of our urban farm program, CAUSA, and strengthen CAUSA’s connection to the education community, clarifying CAUSA’s connection to our mission and creating greater impact among our students and parents.
3.We will professionalize MED by investing in staff development, networking with the larger medical community, establishing programs in additional Southern California counties, and building a health career pipeline that more securely intertwines MED with Uncommon Good’s mission.
