Wayfinder Family Services

Mission

Wayfinder’s mission is to ensure that children, youth and adults facing challenges always have a place to turn. Founded in 1953 as the Foundation for the Junior Blind, Wayfinder continues to expand our expert, individualized services in response to our community’s needs in family well-being, child welfare, mental health, visual impairment and multiple disabilities. To reflect the evolution in our programs, our name became Wayfinder Family Services in January 2018. Wayfinder is one of the largest statewide foster care and adoption agencies in California, and we provide services to more children who are blind than any other nonprofit in California. Our evidence-based programs support predominately low-income children, youth and families of color. We serve nearly 24,500 people annually, and our goal is to assist 30,000 per year by the end of 2028. With our long history, deep expertise and reach across California, Wayfinder is uniquely positioned to provide life-changing resources for the members of our community who need them most. Wayfinder is accredited by the Council on Accreditation for exemplary programs and operations and is recognized as meeting the highest standards in fiscal management by Charity Navigator, Candid (GuideStar), and the Better Business Bureau.
