    Voices for Children, CA

    Mission

Voices for Children (VFC) transforms the lives of abused children in San Diego County by providing them with trained, volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs). VFC is the single organization authorized by the court to provide volunteer CASAs to children in foster care in San Diego County and Riverside County. The CASA Program is a vital supplement to the San Diego and Riverside legal communities. Expertly trained by VFC, CASAs are matched with a single foster child or sibling group. CASAs interview all relevant stakeholders including teachers, social workers, and caregivers; monitor compliance with previous court orders; and research resources for their case children. By reviewing court, medical, academic, and family records, CASAs are able to identify areas of concern for the child. Regular visits allow advocates to identify unmet needs. CASAs present their observations to judges in the form of official Court Reports that inform judges' decisions about children's wellbeing.
