Our organization has invested in leadership development by funding books for staff to read together in an effort to learn and grow. The org has sponsored staff members to attend an annual conference that is relevant to the work done by Harambee. What are this organization’s external mobilizaton efforts?
Harambee has on staff a Director of Community Engagement. Her responsibility is to make sure that our community impact and participation is consistent and clear. She sits on commissions, meets with local officials, and sits with community members to keep a pulse on the needs of our community. She is also great at rallying other organizations with similar causes to make sure we are pushing in the same direction instead of competing with one another.

The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
Right before the pandemic, our organization had shuttered both the school as well as our preschool program. We maintained our after school program as well as our Performing Arts Program. Then, during the height of the pandemic, we flexed to the needs of the community. We provided tutoring digitally, we got Chromebooks for students who didn't have access to technology, we became a Voting location, we became a COVID vaccination clinic, and we maintained a virtual Performing Arts Program. In Summer of 2021, we went back to an in-person Summer Program and that was great and successful. Following that, in April of 2022, we re-launched our in-person Afterschool program. Slowly, we have begun unfolding more and more in person programming to get back to the practical ways that we care for our families.
