Angel Flight West Inc.

Mission

Angel Flight West delivers health and hope using donated flights to serve those with healthcare or other compelling human needs. In the air, Angel Flight West links volunteer pilots and commercial airlines with people whose non-emergency health needs require long-distance travel to access care. On the ground, volunteer drivers ferry passengers to and from their departure and destination airports. Founded in 1983, AFW links volunteer pilots in private aircraft to people with limited resources whose health care and other circumstances require them to travel to and from facilities throughout 12 Western states. Our volunteer pilots and airline partners donate the costs of all flights, and there is never a charge for at mission. We have one audacious goal: to remove transportation as a barrier to health care. In addition to medical flights, we arrange transportation for other humanitarian purposes: individuals and families escaping domestic violence; veterans taking part in therapeutic programs; and young people participating in specialty medical camps.

3.Support of AFW produces an exceptional return on investment. Because all flight costs are donated, each dollar awarded allows us to provide $3-$4 in services. Capacity-building activities include technology upgrades to improve efficiency and an initiative to maximize volunteer utilization. Our reserve fund ensures that we have the resources to weather unforeseen challenges.
