New Directions for Veterans

Mission

Founded in 1992, NDVets initially operated out of a five-bedroom home serving eight homeless Vietnam War veterans. Today, NDVets operates from its main campus, a 60,000 square-foot facility co-located and integrated on the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System campus, and aids hundreds of veterans and their families annually. Guided by our mission "To empower men and women who served in the military, and their families, to lead productive and fulfilling lives," NDVets provides a Transitional Housing Program at our 161-bed facility called the Veteran Opportunity Center; 12 Permanent Supportive Housing communities with 572 veteran units; intensive behavioral health and psychiatric care; female-specific veteran services; and linkage to care and resources. While NDVets provides an array of services to support the veteran and their family; our goal is to end the homelessness of veterans. To achieve this goal, we offer a "whatever it takes" approach to serve our veterans,
