Vision

Mending Kids envisions a world where every child, no matter where they are born, can access safe, timely surgical care. We are working toward a future where local surgeons and hospitals have the skills, tools, and support to treat their own children, and where fewer lives are lost to entirely fixable conditions. Our goal is a global network of strong, independent pediatric surgical programs that can give every child a real chance to grow up healthy.

Goals

1. 1.Mending Kids plans to expand access to pediatric surgical care by growing the reach of our mission programs, strengthening local partnerships, and deepening training in regions with limited capacity. With a small but effective team, we aim to help more children receive care closer to home while building stronger, more independent local surgical programs.
2. 2.Mending Kids is investing in its own capacity so we can better support capacity building around the world. Strengthening our financial systems, management structure, and technical tools will ensure continuity, improve efficiency, and support long-term succession planning as we grow our impact.
3. 3.Mending Kids continues to respond to emerging needs by developing programs that strengthen local surgical capacity. We’re exploring a pediatric ENT fellowship in East Africa, expanding cardiac training in Ghana, and growing our U.S. dental surgery program for special-needs children who face long wait times for care.
