Sierra Madre Search & Rescue Team

Mission

The Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Team is a non-profit, all volunteer organization founded in 1951 to save lives through mountain rescue and outdoor safety education. The team motto of “anywhere in the wilderness that someone needs help…” guides us and has motivated us through over 5,000 requests for help since our founding.

Vision

The Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Team aspires to protect the lives and safety of those who recreate in the mountain and wilderness areas of California's San Gabriel Mountains and surrounding areas by providing the highest level of search and rescue services to those who may be lost or injured in the wilderness. The team further seeks to provide education and awareness on safe recreational practices to children and others in the community to facilitate their safe enjoyment of our mountain wilderness areas.

Goals
