Charity Navigator relies on donations from users like you.
Dear Reader: Did you know that we never charge charities to be rated on our site? This allows us to maintain independence and conduct unbiased evaluations. If everyone reading this now donated $5, our website would be sustained for years to come. If Charity Navigator is useful to you, take a minute to keep it online and free for another year.
Charity Navigator is a nonprofit too. We rely on donations. If everyone reading this donated $5, we could keep it online for another year.

Methodology

Charity Navigator works to guide intelligent giving. Our goal is to help people give to charity with confidence. At the same time, we aim to help charities by shining lights on truly effective organizations. In doing so, we believe we can help ensure that charitable giving keeps pace with the growing need for charitable programs.

Our approach to rating charities is driven by those two objectives: helping givers and celebrating the work of charities. The pages listed below describe how we select charities to evaluate, how we classify and rate them, and what givers can conclude based on our ratings.
