Charity Navigator Internship Program

 
 

Charity Navigator is looking for talented and ambitious interns to join our team. Our interns work hand in hand with the staff in our office in Glen Rock, New Jersey assisting with projects and processes that provide them with exposure to all facets of the organization.              

Requirements:

  • Minimum commitment of 15-20 hours/week for 10 weeks

  • Available to work Monday-Friday between 9am and 5pm

  • Enrolled in a college or university and able to receive school credit

  • In the NYC Metro/NJ area

  • Self starter with a strong work ethic that can work independently and on a team

  • Passionate about nonprofits and Charity Navigator’s mission

  • Some experience or demonstrated knowledge in the area of the internship position

Compensation:

  • $1,000 Stipend

  • Commute Reimbursement available

Positions:

Digital Marketing and Fundraising Intern

 

Charity Navigator is seeking a resourceful and self-motivated student intern to provide assistance with its fundraising and marketing efforts. This position will provide the successful applicant with the opportunity to work for a nationally-recognized organization and gain a better understanding of core development,  fundraising, and marketing functions which are key to the success of all nonprofit organizations.

 

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation and initial implementation of a mid-level donor program

  • Create engaging, shareable content for CN blog and social media

  • Help develop content for an August email campaign about learning to be an informed donor

  • Support in Google ads management

  • Analyze trends in donor data

  • Conduct foundation and individual prospect research

  • Review organization’s website and make recommendations for content updating and archival

  • Participate in group project with other interns

  • Additional tasks on an as-needed basis

 

Qualifications:

The successful applicant is pursuing or recently completed an undergraduate or graduate degree with a demonstrated interest in the philanthropic sector (previous volunteer or internship experience preferred). They must be detail-oriented, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to think creatively and learn quickly. Competency in using common office software systems is required.  Experience with social media marketing and outreach, html web and email coding, and/or web design are all preferred skills that can be further developed during this internship.

 

 

Data and Web Analytics Intern

 

Charity Navigator is seeking a Data and Analytics Intern to assist the Charity Navigator team with creating exceptional digital marketing reports for our website with over 10 million visitors per year.  

 

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Creating Digital Marketing Reports: Utilize analytics and digital marketing tools to create weekly and monthly reports showing trends and key data points.

  • Data and Analytics Tasks: Learn how to use analytical platforms such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Hot Jar and other tools to gather and interpret data in order to help improve Charity Navigator’s digital marketing. Option to study to become Google Analytics certified to be able to create goals and funnels in Google analytics.

 

Qualifications:

  • Be motivated and seeking to gain experience in the digital marketing field (an interest in social awareness and activism is helpful)

  • Be highly organized with tremendous attention to detail. Commit to meeting deadlines.

  • Be creative and proactive. We are looking for someone who likes to think outside of the box to solve problems

  • Be able to work quickly and efficiently, yet thoroughly.  Be able to work “hands off” and take charge of assigned tasks.

  • Understanding of digital marketing and content marketing specifically

  • Interactive media, marketing, advertising majors preferred

  • GPA at least 3.0

 

 

Business Development and Partnerships Intern

 

This role combines the business disciplines of strategic analysis, marketing, and sales. It will support the distribution and/or enhancement of CN products and services through new market research, partner prospecting, and outreach.

 

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct market analysis

  • Using research, generate strategic partnership recommendations and support outreach

  • Assist in updating API sales and marketing materials

  • Conduct basic data cleaning and processing to streamline custom list and/or API sales

  • Support pitch development and create presentation decks, as needed

  • Complete one group project with summer intern cohort

 

Qualifications:

  • Business, communications, or marketing major

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Detail-oriented and exercise ownership over assigned projects

  • Positive attitude and a strong work ethic

  • Collaboration and an aptitude for building relationship

  • You take initiative to find creative solutions when obstacles occur
