It’s clear that Americans love, respect, and honor our troops. Thousands of civilian donate a part of their income and time to charities that are dedicated to serving the brave individuals who sacrifice to keep us safe. In fact, people donate more than $2.5 billion annually to the over 40,000 American charities with military related missions. Many of these charities are financially responsible, accountable and transparent, and do phenomenal work. Some charities, however, are not as financially responsible, accountable and transparent, and may not be helping our troops and veterans as effectively.
We’ve curated this list to help identify highly rated charities that have demonstrated financial responsibility as shown on their public filings. These organizations provide various services from lifting troops’ morale to financial assistance for food, rent, utilities, and medical expenses.
We caution you to look carefully before supporting one of these charities as they are not highly rated by our rating system, which measures a charity's financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency. In particular, before donating, we urge you to read any CN Advisory for an organization. We issue a CN Advisory for an organization when we become aware of improper conduct or operations that may affect a donor's decision to make a contribution to the organization.
