As a Gold Star family member, Joe Walsh (guitarist, of the band The Eagles) has always been focused on veterans and their well-being. While on active duty, his father, a flight instructor for the first US operational jet-powered aircraft, died at Okinawa when Walsh was just 20 months old. In 2017, Walsh founded VetsAid, a nonprofit benefit music festival raising funds for veterans groups across the country.

On Veterans Day this year, Walsh is recognizing some of his favorite rated nonprofits that focus on veterans needs and military-member causes. Americans love, respect, and honor our troops all year round -- in fact, people donate more than $2.5 billion annually to the over 40,000 American charities with military-related missions. Consider donating to one of the following nonprofits supporting members of the military and veterans alike.
