Devastating floods and landslides, triggered by the beginning of monsoon season in South Asia, have resulted in the deaths of more than 200 people. While the rain has stopped in Nepal, more than six million people have been affected. Downpours expected in India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan threaten the lives of millions more. The region remains vulnerable to more flash flooding, as the rainy season continues.

Rescue crews are working around the clock to extricate families from flooded homes and deliver them to dry ground, while aid organizations are scrambling to provide food, medical care, and emergency shelter to individuals who have been displaced by the floods. Millions of acres of farmland have been submerged and countless herds of livestock have been swept away in the rising waters. Relief agencies note that full effects of these devastating floods will be felt long after the rain has stopped and the waters have receded.

These highly-rated organizations have confirmed they are working on the ground in the region to provide shelter and deliver supplies and medical care to individuals and families in need. Please consider supporting one of these great organizations today.

Experts are warning that Rohingya refugees in southeastern Bangladesh are particularly vulnerable during this crisis. They are living in makeshift homes in overcrowded camps in an area threatened by flooding. Already, thousands have been displaced. Please visit our Rohingya Crisis Hot Topic to learn more about organizations serving this vulnerable population now and throughout the year.
