Charity Navigator Features 100&Change Finalists to Increase Awareness and Funding

GLEN ROCK, N.J. (April 13, 2020) — Charity Navigator, the nation's largest and most-utilized charity evaluator, announced today that it will feature 21 of the Top 100 proposals in the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation’s 100&Change competition. The Top 100 represent the highest-scoring submissions in 100&Change, a global competition for a single $100 million grant to help solve one of the world's most critical social challenges.

Visitors to Charity Navigator will have the opportunity to review the video submissions from the 100&Change Top 100 with a 3- or 4-star rating as part of a dedicated Hot Topic. The proposed solutions range from eliminating blindness to ending domestic violence.  Additionally, qualifying applicants will be featured on Charity Navigator’s social media platforms or channels, leading up to the selection of the 100&Change finalists later this year and the $100 million award recipient in the summer of 2021.

Charity Navigator’s President and CEO Michael Thatcher shares, “I consider myself fortunate to have been a part of the 100&Change Wise Head Panel. “In this role, I had the opportunity to review some truly inspirational and innovative approaches to addressing the world’s most critical social problems. With a mission of making impactful philanthropy easier for all, it’s only natural for us to help increase the visibility of the finalists and encourage others to consider supporting these organizations.”

This initiative amplifies the work of MacArthur affiliate, Lever for Change, which manages 100&Change and recently launched the Bold Solutions Network, a searchable online collection of the highest-rated proposals that emerge from 100&Change and the other competitions Lever for Change manages.

“We are committed to matching philanthropists with high-impact solutions and problem solvers to accelerate social change,” said Cecilia Conrad, CEO of Lever for Change and MacArthur Managing Director, 100&Change, “Our partnership with Charity Navigator allows philanthropists to make funding decisions with confidence, knowing that both the proposed solution and the organizations’ financial health, accountability, and transparency are highly regarded by two trusted entities.”
