Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games
On July 23, 2021, over 10,000 athletes from 200+ nations, along with an Olympic refugee team, will begin their quest to make sports history in Tokyo, Japan during the postponed 2020 Olympic Games.  The XXXII Olympiad, originally scheduled for last summer, was rescheduled due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
In the latest turn of events, on July 8, 2021, a state of emergency was issued by the Japanese government, due to rising Coronavirus infections. This prompted the International Olympic Committee and Japanese organizers to announce that spectators would be barred from attending all Olympic events.  With a now solely televised event, this may be the most unusual Olympic Games in modern history.  The Games will conclude on August 8, and the Paralympics will begin on August 24.
