Highly rated nonprofits providing relief and recovery to the flood-ravaged region

Kentucky & Appalachian Flooding Header Image

After several days of severe weather storms resulting in dangerous and disastrous flooding, landslides, and mudslides, on July 29, 2022, the President issued a federal emergency disaster declaration for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The immediate aftermath of the catastrophic flooding has resulted in the loss of life, thousands of households without electricity, and damage to critical infrastructure. Roads and bridges have been destroyed, blocked by debris, or left damaged. Charity Navigator analysts have vetted the highly rated nonprofits included on this page. These organizations are contributing to relief and recovery efforts in Kentucky and the Appalachian region.

Charity Navigator will continue to update this resource as other nonprofits providing or funding direct relief are approved. Learn more about the missions and programs of these high-performing charities, and support them through our Giving Basket.

Note: The Charity Navigator analyst team vets nonprofits selected for inclusion on Hot Topics. For crisis or disaster-related lists such as this, nonprofits must be 3- or 4-Star rated (not Encompass-rated), complete a survey identifying the specific services provided, and have a designated fund for donations aligned directly to the crisis or disaster. Some nonprofits, including those highly rated and well-known, can elect not to submit the required information. As a result, they are not included.
